Conservation of paper objects

Paper department at INTACH ICI Delhi handles conservation of many art objects made on paper such as prints, ephemera, drawings, paintings, manuscripts, maps and paper-mache. A variety of colour mediums such as water colours, poster colours, oil, acrylic, dyes, pigments etc, have been used by various artists.
Paper objects are exposed to many problems such as tear and losses, grime and accretions, foxing, discolouration, yellowing of paper due to acidification, waviness and creases, unscientific mending with adhesives and tapes and partial or complete colour losses.
