Conservation of Textiles
Textile department at ICI Delhi handles conservation of many art objects made on different support like silk, cotton, wool, rayon, etc. There is abundance of art on textile such as printed textiles, dyes, embroidery, brocaded textiles, crewel work, zari work, paintings, thangka, appliqué work, etc.
Textile objects are exposed to many problems such as tear and losses, grime and accretions, fading and darkening, stains, yellowing due to acidification, waviness and creases, adhesives and tapes and partial or complete colour losses, etc.
