Conservation Projects-Architectural Heritage
Restoration of old building of late Janaki nath Bose and eventual conversion into conservation of Netaji museum trust at Gopal Ballav Road,Puri. The centre carried out the structural conservation and museum establishment work of the building.

Temple Conservation Project
Under the supervision of AH division of INTACH and with coordination of the State Chapter of INTACH, the INTACH Orissa Art Conservation Centre successfully carried out the conservation work of 26 important temples and monuments of Odisha under the 13th Finance commission project supported by Dept of Culture, Govt of Odisha. Some of the important structures were Somnath temple at Bishnupur, Birth Place of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das, Satyabhamapur , Cuttack and Mastaram Mutt at Laxminarayan Temple.

Restoration work of decorated pillars of the mandapa of Kosaleswara Temple, Baidyanath, Sonepur, under Conservation of Kosaleswara Temple, Baidyanath, Sonepur by INTACH Odisha Art Conservation Centre under the 13th FC project were carried out.

Documentation Project
Wall paintings present inside the old Raja Bakhri palace at Sambalpur were documented for taking up their conservation work along with the architectural conservation of the monument.

Inauguration Of Aquarium On August 21, 2014
The Odisha State Maritime Museum developed by INTACH was inaugartaed on August 21, 2014. The aqua section was envisioned by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik Odisha is home to over 650+ species of aquatic animals from 8-10 unique biotopes. The Odiya biotopes exhibited in the aquarium has been studied in detail and reproduced so that the aquatic species can exhibit its natural behavior as you can see in its original home.
The aquarium showcases biotope’s of 4 major bio diversity hotspots of odisha i.e. Chilika, Baitrani, Bhittarkanika and Mahanadi. The aquarium also serves as an education tool to the visitors of all age groups & also emphasizes the need to conserve nature for future generations.
The Nature Aquarium exhibit depicting “The Submerged Temple” is a picture of global warming and its impact on the ever raising water levels. There are over 800 tiny fishes and live plants in this system which is supplied with Co2 gas to enable plants to grow.This project, commissioned by The Water Resources Department, Govt. of Odisha has 11 exhibits on display with each having a story to tell for people of all ages. The total project was completed in 18 months.

Renovation of Art and Craft Gallery of Odisha State Museum
ICI Odisha has been assigned to renovate the art and craft gallery of Odisha State Museum under which the gallery has to be redesigned with proper exhibit show cases, illumination and display of the conserved collection.

YEAR : 2012-2013

Odisha State Maritime Museum, Cuttack – Architectural restoration and Museum Establishment project
On 31st March 2013, INTACH ICI, with help of INTACH Conservation Institute, Bhubaneswar had completed the project of restoration and establishment of a dilapidated workshop building of 1866 period and establishment of Odisha State Maritime Museum inside it at Jobra, Cuttack. The project was financially supported by the Department of Water Resources , Govt of Odisha. INTACH has successfully completed the work of restoration and establishment of a maritime museum inside the building with a soothing landscaping. The Odisha State maritime museum has 10 very important and innovative galleries reflecting the history of maritime trade in Odisha and its connection with South East Asian countries such as Bali, Java, Sumatra, Cambodia etc . It also has galleries reflecting the Boat making tradition of Odisha, the maritime rituals and coastal architecture of Odisha through beautiful three and two dimensional models, dioramas and photographs. The Old and vintage machines of pre-independence period retained at the Jobra machines gallery are all conserved and made functional for the visitors to see and enjoy .

An entire site of 5.6 acres of the Odisha State Maritime Museum has galleries and in addition to that , an air- conditioned multimedia hall , air conditioned cafeteria, children activity room, a well equipped library and computer section . A world class aquarium is also under preparation inside the museum which will be another added attraction in the Museum Complex and one more feather on INTACH ‘s cap.

Conservation Of Rare Volumes Of Books At Manibhawan Gandhi Sangrahalaya, Mumbai
ICI Bhubaneswar successfully completed the conservation of 12918 sheets of rare volumes of very important books at Manibhawan Gandhi Sangrahalaya at Mumbai which is daily visited by thousands of national and international visitors . The work has been tremendously appreciated by the Museum authorities and also by the foreign visitors.

Magnetic Records of Indian Institute of Geo magnetism, Mumbai.
The Books and literature of Magnetic Observatory were conserved by the center. They are from, Alibag- Mumbai. Its an ongoing Project, Supported by Dept of Science and Technology, Govt of India

Manuscripts of K.R.Cama Oriental Institute, Mumbai
The center carried out a project on conservation of the rare and very important Persian manuscripts and books of the KR Cama Library at Mumbai. After completing eight phases of conservation project, the Phase IX was carried out in 2011 at Mumbai by the centre’s conservation experts. More than 1,30,000 sheets of precious, rare and very important manuscripts and books have been conserved under this project at Mumbai.

Records of Delhi State Archives- ongoing Project- Supported by Department of Delhi Archives, New Delhi
The records and manuscripts belonging to Delhi State Archives, Govt of NCT, New Delhi were being conserved by the paper conservators of INTACH Orissa Art Conservation Centre, Bhubaneswar. The project was started from September 2011 with the support of Department of Delhi Archives.

Conservation of Archival Documents of Godrej Archives
Records belonging to the Godrej Archives were being conserved by the manuscript conservators of INTACH Orissa Art Conservation Centre, Bhubaneswar.

YEAR 2010-2011

National Mission for Manuscripts , 2010- 2011
Under the Scheme supported by the Dept of Culture, Govt of India, INTACH OACC Bhubaneswar has been appointed as one of their manuscript Conservation Centre (MCC) and it is carrying out manuscript conservation activities , training programmes on conservation of manuscripts across Orissa since September 2003. The MoU has been renewed in year 2010.

Establishment of State Maritime Museum at Jobra, Cuttack , 2010
The project supported by the Dept of Water Resources, Govt of Orissa was started in 2008. The objective was to establish a maritime museum inside the Jobra workshop which will be one of its kind. The museum is designed to have various galleries on maritime activities of the state as well as the country. It will display information on Maritime History of the state, the country, the evidences depicting the maritime trade and traditions, the tradition of boats and ship building, the concept of floating, maritime rituals, navigational items and procedures, maritime architecture etc,. The museum will have beautifully developed landscape, external items such as visitor facilities, library, souvenir shop, multimedia room, open air theatre etc.

Viswabharati, Shantiniketan ( govt of india sponsored) 2010-2011
Important manuscripts related to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, records of zamindaris and other related papers stored at the LIPIKA manuscript section , Shantiniketan, Visvabharati awere being conserved ( both Preventive and Curative) by INTACH Orissa Art Consevation Centre, Bhubaneswar since Dec 2009 with the support of National Archives of India, New Delhi. More than 1/4th of the collection has been treated.

Tata Central Archives, Pune
The archival records of TATA, their family correspondences, important legal documents , newspaper cuttings and maps have been treated by the centre. The first phase of work concluded on May 15, 2011.

Conservation of Art and Antiquities of Orissa State Museum. 2010-2011
The centre carried out conservation of museum antiquities of the Orissa State Museum in year 2010-11 which included the conservation of Palm leaf manuscripts, Bronze Objects, Arms and Armoury collection, Archaeology exhibits of the Orissa State Museum.

The paper manuscripts of the Orissa State Museum were being treated under a govt. of India sponsored project. A number of important paper manuscripts were treated including some diverse type of manuscripts such as bamboo manuscripts, birch bark manuscripts etc.The project was completed in 2011.
