About ICI Bangalore

ICI Bangalore also known as INTACH Chitra Kala Parishath Art Conservation Centre (ICKPAC) is a non-government institution that works to advance conservation of art works through practice, research, education, and dissemination of knowledge. ICKPAC was established, in collaboration with Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore, in the latter’s premises, in the year 1993. The Centre was inaugurated by the then Governor of Karnataka, Shri H.E. Khursheed Alam Khan, on 22nd July 1993.

ICKPAC (ICI Bangalore) conserves and restores a varied range of artworks and artefacts. The Center serves museums, libraries, educational institutions, religious organisations, historical societies, archives, as well as corporates, independent art professionals, and private collectors.

It serves the conservation community through several research, training and academic programs held throughout the year. It also helps spread awareness about the preservation of collections in museums, galleries and private institutions. Trained Conservation professionals at the Centre have the expertise to undertake projects of virtually any scale or level of complexity. The treatments are carried out strictly adhering to the internationally accepted Code of Ethics of Conservation and Guidelines for Practice and by using conservation grade material The purpose of establishing this Centre was to cater to the needs of Government and private institutions as well as collectors in the state of Karnataka for the conservation and restoration of their art and archival collections. Being the only Centre of INTACH in Southern India, we have also served the needs of neighbouring states by carrying out important conservation projects.
