About ICI Bangalore
ICKPAC (ICI Bangalore) is a non-government institution that works to advance conservation of
art works through practice, research, education, and the dissemination of knowledge. ICKPAC
was established, in collaboration with Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore, in the latter’s
premises, in the year 1993. The Centre was inaugurated by the then Governor of Karnataka,
H.E. Khursheed Alam Khan, on 22nd July 1993.
ICKPAC (ICI Bangalore) located in the campus of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat Art
Complex, Kumara Park Road, Bangalore, treats a full range of artworks and artifacts. The
Center serves museums, libraries, educational institutions, historical societies, and archives, as
well as corporates, independent art professionals, and private collectors.
It serves the conservation community through conservation and restoration services, research
and training through various academic events and field works. It helps to give awareness about
the preservation of collections, manuscripts that will benefit the professionals as well
organizations like museums and galleries. Technically – skilled conservators and technicians
have the expertise to undertake projects of virtually any scale or level of complexity. They
strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice and use of conservation quality
material. Conservators are available for on-site surveys and services, and to conduct seminars
and training sessions as well.
The purpose of establishing this Centre was to cater to the needs of Government and private
institutions as well as collectors for the conservation and restoration of their art and archival
collections. Being the only Centre of INTACH in Southern India, we have also served the needs
of neighboring states by carrying out important conservation projects.
ICKPAC is an independent, non-profit, regional centre providing comprehensive conservation services in Paintings, Furniture, Objects, Paper and Textiles. The team is collaborative, very collegial and works innovatively with the conservation and restoration treatments on hundreds
